How come girls will talk to you via texting, but never have any intention of meeting?

I'll probably text a girl back and forth for a week a so before bringing up the idea of meeting in person. I don't get it though, do you ladies, just think this dude is your little texting buddy and he's not going to ever take things further like meeting up? Going on a date or just as friends, Whatever he's looking for etc. It doesn't necessarily always have to be a date. I'm cool with just expanding my social circle right now, honestly.

Guys do this a lot too, I don't know why I guess they mostly want to maturbate to pictures the others person send flirt but don't want to commit as they want to be free and are surely not very "monogamous"

Online friends is a whole different stuff and yes being shy is often common I would but I'm shy ><
