I'm not single anymore but when I was dating my partner we didn't just go get a £200 meal. First date was a coffee and a long walk. Other dates we went on hikes. We played laser tag. He went to a spa. We went on drives. We went ice skating. We raced hovercrafts. We went to museums. We went zip lining. We went to theme parks. We went to church. Vintage fairs. Airshows. Water parks. We went to balls and dinner dances. We had so much fun. We went clubbing. Line dancing. We went to the beach. Now I talk to these women and they are going on dates and they are describing the guy and the dates, it's always the same, the guy was boring the date was boring and I'm like mix it up. Do something fun, food should be after doing something fun.

First of all I hate the word Date..
Because dating is premeditated.. and boring...
Your dating is my type of dating. Spontaneous fun laughing. I don't care what it is . anything but sitting in a muggy restaurant . I would rather cook dinner.. then go do something that we will remember
I've done all the above in Spontaneous dating. That you had said and when I read your question I said omg who is she.. she sounds like me lol .. but your talking about 2025.. I'm talking since day one of dating. .. no wait not true. It was the first one that made me change the way I did it.10 Reply

1 yDating isn't just about ‘getting to know someone’—it's about experiencing life with them. A fancy dinner tells you nothing about how someone handles excitement, spontaneity, or even a little challenge. Do they laugh when they fall ice skating? Do they get competitive in laser tag? Do they enjoy new experiences or just stick to the same routine?
Sitting across from someone at a dinner table doesn't show you their personality, it just shows you their table manners. Go out, do something fun, make memories—then grab food after. That way, you're actually learning about the person, not just their taste in steak."
01 Reply"Exactly! A date should be an experience, not just a meal. If you're only sitting across from each other making small talk over overpriced food, of course it feels dull. Go do something fun, make memories, laugh, and let the connection grow naturally! Food should be the reward after an adventure, not the main event."
1 yI have a feeling that many men made New Year's resolutions about meeting women... we have a few warmer days in Europe, and my chats exploded as everyone knows I don't like cold...
but it looks like they forgot I don't like meeting people I don't know too good :D
so a few dramas here or there because I simply refuse meeting up :D10 Reply
1 yI haven't dated in a while bc I've been working while also going to college. Thanks for the ideas though. I think I'm gonna need them soon🥰 He did invite me to watch him play piano at an event... That doesn't sound as boring does it? 😌

51 ReplyThe kind of things you're describing in most of the world are genuinely too expensive for most people. This is a lot of money and attention when you put it all together. The global economy is getting worse everywhere so as a result so is everyone's expenses in the world. I don't know a ton about the economy in Europe but there is no way this isn't really expensive for most people. Most places in the world most jobs just don't pay enough for expenses like that this often. Some of these aren't that expensive but some of them would cost a pretty penny. If he can do this, he's at least middle class to be doing this and a lot of people are stuck at lower middle class at best.

20 Reply6K opinions shared on Dating topic. Well that's why the first date is so pivotal you use it to get to know each other you use the first date as both a way to find out if you wanna see more of the other person but also gather information that is useful for planning future dates if you do go out more.
It gives you ideas about things she likes or things you think she would like based on what she's told you.
If people aren't making use of that information then it means they weren't paying attention, they weren't using the date for that purpose or they just plan on using you and then moving on.
00 Reply2.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. Expensive dinners have always existed and they have never been the only option for a date
Only someone with no dating experience thinks they have to go through an expensive dinner to impress someone
A lot of people still get a coffee or a drink or just go for a walk10 Reply
1 yCost has been a factor, the cost of living has exploded here and wages have not come even close to keeping pace so it’s simply less accessible to do those things than it was even 5 years ago.

True but I've talked to so many women and theh insist on a guy having to take them for a fancy expensive meal or no date
- 1 y
Right, women aren’t adjusting our expectations to the financial realities of dating which means we are competing over a smaller and smaller pool of men who can meet that criteria.

1 yNo idea, I quit that game with zero proper dates, when I hung out with my girlfriend it was most just shopping and then eating but like £40 for a pizza, a glass of wine, a coke (she was 18 and I was 16) and a dessert

Must be the best pizza in history lol

Pizza Express and that was a decade
3.6K opinions shared on Dating topic. not everyone have the same taste, I'm not a big fan of expensive meals either as it's full of old people but to each their own. Also I grew up eating all outside meals at mcdo or Flunch so it's vastly different from 5 start restaurant XD
20 ReplyI love hiking and think that would be a great date as it is inexpensive and gives you plenty of time to talk and get to know each other. I feel hesitant inviting someone I barely know to go off to a secluded forest with me, though.

You are right 3rd date maybe.

1 yAm I opponent just just a problem people think that in order to have a good day you must spend a lot of money on a fancy restaurant but there is more than one way to reach a goal... Why don't they just do something original something that demonstrates that you know that person better than others... Or something that shows what kind of person you really are like for example trying to cook something yourself for this person
10 Replyhonestly if i like the person i wouldn't care too much if what we’re doing is boring. i hear you tho. a bit more effort could be nice 🫶

1 yWell I use coffee dates to see how they’ll react in act with the wait stuff especially if we met online if they put in their profile if it’s true. Plus it’s good way to get to know each other. Or wine bar to.
