Guys, Does this sound like he asked me out on a low key date?

I was quite surprised, when he was mentioning this festival, he said I should play at it. I could play the piano overlooking the lake and he would play the harp with me. I couldn't even tell if he was being serious so I just smiled and no official plan was made. He just informed me when it was on and where , what happens there etc.

Follow up on it as well as just ask his intentions some people assume someone is being crystal clear when in reality they were vague it’s okay to ask someone to clarify. Whether there was romantic intentions or not it’s better to just ask outright then assume the wrong thing.

It would be more awkward assuming their was romantic or other intentions behind something and there never was acting a certain way and freaking someone out. There isn’t any shame in asking…

Also if there was those sort of intentions you know what he wants and you know what you want. If he’s attracted and wanting to build a connection you won’t be guessing where you stand with him or allow things to fade away because you just start assuming there isn’t.

Follow up and ask him about it.
As well as ask him if he was asking you on a date or if it was a more as friends type of thing.

Two people have suggested he's using me to promote the festival, which I was surprised to hear because it's not necessarily his festival. It seemed like a genuine invitation! Anyway, fingers crossed :)

Well, people react on the context you provide, which in that case is quite thin, it's just lol. Since I have seen several prior episodes of this saga, I can see a much larger picture, where considering him as doing some promotion seems coming from nowhere. Unless you see something saying that he has the attitude of a car seller, which I find doubtful !

Not sure about musicians but as an artist people always wanna use my art or have me there for something. Which they should be paying me for but cause I'm a friend they think I should not charge when I should.

I'm not sure, you have me food for thought. He seems genuinely interested in me as a person but I will definitely have my guard up as I do have a tendency to be taken advantage of.

Another time he suggested I try playing at a medieval festival as he knows I'm interested in performance. This time he was painting a picture saying I could play at a harbour festival , overlooking a lake and maybe he would join with his harp. It was kind of light hearted

Come to think of it the only way I can know is observe if he is interested in me as a person, not just my musical abilities

Sorry kinda true your talent is tired to you and him. Does he ever hang out talk anything but music? Do you get lunch or drinks after performing?
Maybe he is only into we sound good together but you want him to be in love liking you! Follow your heart and let your mind watch!

I haven't seen him too many times. Last time he said something about how we could have a party out on the island , he was saying it to my sister as well (she has a boyfriend) He seems quite outgoing and good at networking you know?
I think he is mostly just encouraging me to try perform more as I am mainly teaching at the moment
He envisions me playing in cathedral's and stuff.
We haven't talked much outside of that, he was making jokes about other stuff and him being at the gym etc (he mentioned a few times)
I won't keep my hopes up too high

Good luck hopefully he likes you too and networking is hard without being used. My advice is free publicity is Thier words for being used for free!
It's never worth the attention!
For great free publicity make lovely YouTube videos like the piano guys.
Word of mouth does not work in this day and age! The world is not a small place.

It's so weird I never even considered he could end up using me to promote the festival which he seems to take part in.
That's definitely worst case scenario. I guess you can't trust anyone though , even though he seems genuine it's impossible to know for sure.
