Dating is scary these days?

I see more and more articles where people assault and unalive their partners over silly things... DV rates going up... unalive your partner over jealousy, insecurity, and greed... the fact that a lot of people have underlying mental health issues , but still try to date.. now you have to worry about your safety if you want to leave a toxic and dysfunctional relationship...

The last incident I dealt with was a guy who I knew for 15 years ( Went to school with him) .. never dated him , but he became obsessed with me and when I rejected a relationship with him ( He showed too many red flags and admitted to having a restraining order on him by another woman) he started stalking and harassing me until I had to move. Weeks later after that he messaged me anonymously asking me if I was at my old apartment and he admitted that he started knocking on my door only to realize I was gone when no one answered so he entered into too see an empty apartment... he had the audacity to ask my old landlord where I moved. I haven't seen the guy in 2 years and was so glad to move. Every now and then he contacts me on social media from blocked accounts and creating new accounts... I had to change phone carriers and numbers because of this guy..

Holy shit. That is indeed scary. I'm sorry this guy was a psycho stalker who terrorized you for years. Dating can be scary for sure. But you've had a particularly terrible experience. (and didn't even date him) I'm not sure what to say. This is messed up. Hopefully he'll move the fuck on already. What a creep.

There was a time when we would lock people like that away in the madhouse. Unfortunately, the aslyums became a hotbed of truly disgusting and abusive treatment, so they had to be shutdown.

He's been to my apartment.. I've seen him driving around in my current neighborhood, the town I live in is small. It's him riding around to find me ... he will kill because I rejected him and now he's obsessed

It is sad to say that this world is getting worse and worse and we have to be very careful who we date. That's why it's good to take it slow and get to know the person and their past for any red flags that may appear
