Why would a man only call or text on weekdays?

He has a workload that is busy. But I see he has read my messages when he texts and he mainly texts on weekdays. Except when he is off for a holiday, I do not hear from him on the weekends. Well, only at midnight on Sundays.

We are not a couple. But he acts like he's my "boyfriend" with all the messages and calls he makes. We are just "friends", and I admit I like him but he's never made a move. We are far from one another.

Some people need a break from technology and just want a few days to rest. If you're not a couple, I wouldn't focus on this too much, but if it's consistent then, I'd accept that it's just his thing. You can always just ask him and be upfront. Asking other people why other people do things is not a good way to truly figure out that persons reasonings or motivations.

True. Especially when they are from another culture. I have no clue what the dating is like there.

It is consistent though. His excuse was he was working. From 8:00am to 8:00pm which is not usual for him but they are finishing a project now in a part of his country. He has shown it to me.
I think he may like me, but I am far, and he seems shy so I am not sure.

If you're unsure here's a few things to think of after reading your thoughts, and I mean this sincerely.

If you want a relationship tell him. Stop waiting. Two, if you do want a relationship, things to think of. He's in a different country... what kind of relationship are you looking for and is this worth your time?

You seem very hesitant and unsure of things yourself. Long distance relationships are not easy when in the same country. This doesn't seem very logical and at your age, you deserve to be more direct. Life's too short. Don't waste it on a guy from a different country if he's never going to move here or if you're never going to move there.

Also, make sure you know who this person is and don't get scammed..(worst case and I'm sure it's not the case)

Thanks for the good advice. Yes, I know I am at the age I shouldn't be wasting my time on anyone I'm not sure of. But he's nice, we get along quite well and we have been writing on a language exchange website where he is learning English and I am learning his (Japanese). I sometimes ask myself, what it is that he wants. Then again, he likes to have a variety of international friends and his own. Maybe he is just lonely. One of the reasons I question his motives are that, for New Year's Eve, he texted me exactly at 12:00 am my time, wishing me a happy new year. He was in bed at his parent's house as he had been with them. This man is 52 (yes, I am guilty of being Mrs. Robinson) and has never married. When we met the second time, he asked me about my husband when I showed him a picture of me and my daughter (I'm divorced) and when I asked him about himself, he said he was "not husband material". So he is free, and I dont think he is married himself, but he may have a girlfriend. He continues to wait for me to return to Japan.

Well, from the pictures he always sends me of him and friends, as well as guests, there is no girlfriend or wife. He’s said he’s never been married. He could lie but he doesn’t seem like the kind that would lie about that. He’s honest.

You mean his communication with me? This August 2 years. I’ve met with him three times where he is.

Long distance. That’s why we haven’t met much. But we email one another on a website and keep in touch on Line.

those are very difficult they can work, but it takes a lot of effort. I had one before.

You can spend time with each other on the phone. There’s a lot of things you can do and gifts you can send in the US mail, UPS, etc. etc. it doesn’t have to be a text just on a Wednesday. That’s not that good.

More often than not, he texts more than once a week (2 or 3 times). Usually on holidays for him and me, he does text much more. But sometimes he has gone only once a week. He texted this morning before midnight on his side. I can read some of his messages from what he wrote and it's always about work and being busy there. But that's no excuse for not reading my message until night time.

that’s not much of a relationship that sounds like an acquaintance just dropping by. is there ever any sweet talk? Does he call you any pet names? Me and my former girlfriend. We watch movies together on the phone. We slept together on the phone We talked every day for hours. I sent her packages in the US mail and also Christmas cards, birthday cards, etc. etc. That’s not a relationship at all very coldhearted acquaintance no affection or sweet talk

We’ll see, he’s 13 hours away so we can’t do that. His culture is also different. He’s not American and so he won’t act like an American man.

For me I try to make things work and try to make things happen that’s why I survived 7 1/2 years then she ended up moving into my house for 2 1/2 years after our long distance relationship. I put the effort out and it worked if I didn’t put any effort out, it would’ve folded You have to decide if this guy is worth it or not. We also traveled the world together went to Europe. I live in America in Miami, Florida.
