My boyfriend was away on a work trip and proposed to me suddenly. Is it true that absence makes the heart grow fonder?

My boyfriend of six months went out of the country for a work trip. The reception has been horrible due to weather on both of our ends and talking with him has been sparse. Today, we finally had a good connection and were able to text some before his work meeting. He started off the text saying that being away from me is absolutely horrible and that the time apart made him realize that he “can’t stand the thought of living without me by his side”. He said that he knows that I am the one for him and that he loves me. He then sent me a voice note asking to marry me. He then said he has to go to his meeting, but will await my reply. I want to say yes, as I do love this man completely and could see myself with him for the rest of my life. We spoke of marriage in the future, but I was surprised at the suddenness of it. I am just wondering is absence really does make the heart grow fonder?
