Is hanging out on the strip in Vegas safe?

Also what about downtown area? Only asking because I’m taking my first trip there and I plan to do a lot of walking around checking out different casinos and what not, I was just wondering if it’s a safe area, not a lot of fights/violence breaking out.

The strip is very safe - heavy on police and private security. The same is true of Fremont Street (downtown), though that tends to be even drunker in terms of the crowd. Walking between the two, however, I would not recommend as there are some pretty seedy areas in between - also it is quite far so unless you tend to wander when drinking as I used to do you probably wouldn't do that anyway, and there is a 24 hour bus in between for a reasonable price. Though I have walked it a couple times without problems - one day my phone showed I had walked 21 miles in going from the south end of the strip to DT and back.

Things on the strip are very far apart. The casinos and their parking structures are huge. When are you going? It's very hot in the summer, like 40C (100F).

I was born, raised, and lived in many places around the USA including Vegas and NEVER felt 100% safe anywhere.
