Reasons for a woman asking for your number?

There is usually only one reason. Because she likes you, and wants to get in touch with you. It is a super clear, very common signal. She's assuming you know what she asked for too. It's about as good as her saying out loud "I'm interested in you, and would like to get in contact."

The only caveat, would be if it were a situation where there is some reason to need your number (you're doing some project together at work. Or planning a party for a mutual friend). I'm guessing you wouldn't be asking, if this were the case.

She likes you. Or at least is interested in you.

That's a good question. Usually if she's bold enough to ask you for your number, she wouldn't worry too much about playing it cool. But she could be. Has it been more than 3 days?

Hmmm, I would expect she would have gotten in touch by now as well. But I wouldn't worry about it too much. It could be anything (busy at work, some family shit came up, etc etc.). If you have her contact info, then you're totally safe to open up communication yourself. If you don't, then I'm afraid there isn't much to do but wait. I wouldn't say you're cooked just yet. She certainly intended to call/text you when she asked for your number. Odds are nothing has changed since then when it comes to her interest.

There is really no reason to think her feelings are diminished with no contact for a few days. If she runs a hospital, then there's your answer right there. She might have a crazy schedule. I know nurses here work 12 hour shifts. And... not always the day shift.

I understand why you're worrying. I think most people would be. However, I don't think there is any actual reason to worry. I think the work thing, is the reason. At least that is what makes the most sense. She wouldn't have asked for your number, if she didn't intend to talk to you.
