Do you think looks in dating and relationships matter?

I mean there is more universally unattractive and attractive people. I would say yes it matters but to some more so then others. Like others have pointed out everyone has their own standards of what they’re looking for as well as not. I’m sure there are women you know for instance who gush over men you don’t find attractive at all as well as you see men who look hot who other women don’t see that way. Men are the same way pretty much there are men into their own types of women as you can see they literally argue over it here. Tall verses short women is one of the issues….

But. As a relationship progresses you should be falling in love with or growing apart from people based on who they are on the inside. In some cases opposite traits complete one another and in other situations two people need to be on the same page. As well as knowing that both people are genuinely good people with good intentions. As well as making sure they’re compatible such as looking for the same things out of a relationship. Making sure both people have something to offer as well.

Peoples looks change. People grow older. For women they have children. But both men and women will grow old one day and won’t look young anymore. Not to say they will look ugly but not youthful. People can like one another only because they look good but that fades away after a while.

Of course they do! Maybe less as things go along. But first impressions matter. And man or woman a person is most likely going to SEE you and make a first impression of you before they ever HEAR you.

Now that doesn't mean we are all attracted to the same things. So if you look a little funny that doesn't mean it's over for you. This is one of the things that's asked repeatedly on G@G, "is attraction Subjective or objective". Well, truthfully it's both. But not equally. Attraction is primarily objective. We as men and women tend to agree on the SAME beauty standards (though in my opinion this isn't even equal for the genders). We tend to agree thin is more attractive than fat, height (for men) is more attractive than short, etc. But outside of this personal experiences and upbringing makes attraction Subjective. For example if you were a woman that dated several tall guys. And all those tall guys turned out to be perks. You might find all tall guys afterwards largely unattractive.

Yes of course, I don’t want to date an ugly man. But everyone has their own standards and type. Like just because someone I think he is ugly, doesn’t mean he is ugly in your opinion.
