Do you agree that looks aren't important when dating?

Seen someone comment "Looks aren't important" and thought it would be interesting to get everyone's opinion. I personally think this statement is ridiculous as from a biological standpoint, physical attraction is important, more so for men then woman but still important. Don't get mad at us men for physical attraction being more important to us men then women (still important for women), this is due to basic biology that dates back thousands of years and is still with us today. Through out human history, woman have been more forgiving in the looks department than men in exchange for being a good provider.

Looks matter to a certain point. For example, someone who is slovenly and looks like they can't handle just the simple task of taking care of themselves... they're not datable material. I'm not saying they have to be all dolled up or decked out, but they should look crisp and clean... like someone who loves and appreciates themselves. If they don't love and care for themselves, why would others want to love and care for them?

It depends on the quality of person you're dating. Most low quality women are very superficial. Yes you have to have SOME attraction to your partner for it to work. But most people who base attraction off of, or predominantly off of looks are doing it because they are self conscious about how they themselves look. And they view dating a very attractive person as putting a band-aid on thier self esteem. They think the other person's attractiveness legiti. izes them.

looks do matter and they are important... it's just that for a lot of people they are the MOST important thing, and not the priority

and the better relationships are usually based on the personality, the character and the affinity between people more than just the looks

They are only important within reason, and even then, only for a short amount of time. First impressions are everything, and looks play a role in that.
