Relationship after friendship?

So, I (24F) and my boyfriend (26M) have been best friends for over three years before we realized our feelings for each other a week ago. Now, we’re both trying to ease into the transition, but it worries me. From his side, he said he would never walk out of this, that I’m the love of his life, that he’d never loved anyone as much as he loved me, etc. so it’s not like the feelings aren’t there. I also love him very dearly and want a future with him. The problem is that he sometimes says things he used to as my best friend, or even stops himself from saying things to me just as he used to when we were just friends. He told me he was still getting used to our new dynamic and even asked me to shame him whenever he acts like anything less than a good boyfriend. I’m a very sensitive person and I worry I might take it too far. At the same time, whenever I point anything out to him he takes it back and apologizes. For context, he is very romantic still and he makes me feel unbelievably happy. It’s just that I’ve been in a relatively similar situation before and it ended horribly. So, my question is: how do I make this transition smoother? Any advice?
