It's unlikely.

It's one thing to have general guidelines, but if you have no flexibility about who you'll let into your life and are simply checking boxes for the "perfect" person, you're more than likely going to be disappointed.

Personally as someone who loves a good list o would say “no” to a rigid list bc the heart just doesn’t work that way.


Having said that I have a friend who is married 10 years now with a pile of kids and she got her guy online with a little shopping list of requirements…


Is he exciting and fun? No, but that wasn’t on her list.
Does he share her (former) vigor for life? No, but he is very smart and that’s what she wanted.


She now has her picture-perfect home life… but from time to time I question a few things about their relationship bc it seems OVERLY structured. She has to be completely in control of everything all the time “for the kids” but it’s fairly transparent that she manages her guy’s every step as well… which I wouldn’t want to do. Where would that trait go on a list? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

It depends. I think it's important to know what you will and won't accept. . Often with checklists, the person has too many unrealistic expectations of someone.

I believe it's important to know someones qualities and flaws. Then determine if those flaws align with who you are.

For example, someone could be very loyal but a very impatient person. They're loyalty may attract you to them, but their impatience may have a really negative effect on you. Someone else may be able to overlook their impatience. It all depends individual personalities.

So if you have a checklist, I wouldn't be swayed by other people's preferences and tolerances. We all have different personality types and backgrounds.

For example, a person may be ok about their partner drinking alcohol. Someone else may want a teetotal partner, because they had alcoholic parent or they've struggled with alcohol themselves.

No, it does not work like this. Love does not fit on a list or a neat little set of rules. It is messy and awkward and never follows what we want it to do. Humans have to just accept this and try and enjoy the ride.
