Who’s good at goodbyes?

I do keep it together and do it with a smile but just last week as I was walking into the airport I had to fight back a couple of tears

Never happened before

and then I look at all the faces around me and it’s like looking in a mirror

No one said a word but we all knew how we were feeling

You see when I left home for the first time it was turbulent. No future. A total mess.
It felt like an escape, a chance for something better.

But this time the country is actually doing well.
There’s really happiness, peaceful harmony, and so on
So leaving feels like turning my back on something that can be good for me (someday)

I don’t regret my decisions in life
But I do recognize that I have been walking one hell of a lonely road and all by my own making

Like teary-eyed “parting at the airport” goodbye? Pretty Good 8/10

Depends on what type of goodbye. If it's the Michelle Branch's Goodbye to You kind then probably not well. I don't do well with friendships and relationships ending.

Well saying them I generally don’t have a problem , it’s either absolutely the right thing for me to do or better long term and although perhaps painful it’s a bit like pulling off a band aid.

Being told goodbye , well in the first part of my life this caused me tremendous emotional pain and some trauma. The path to acceptance has been long and I’m not sure is some ways it will end before …well before I do but , but each new painful goodbye gets easier because it’s just a part of life. Conversely though , there will always be some that’s just a case of “ well don’t let the door hit you on your way out “ .. every cloud etc
