Personally because I am unable to get out and meet women in real life.

Indeed I'm still now trying to find a girlfriend on a few dating sites, for the plain reason that in all logic, odds are higher for people looking for a partner to be there also. No luck till this day though. I came to have the feeling that most women on such sites look for something else than a partner.

In real life things are actually not easier, because most women seem already to have a partner, and ladies my age do not seem interested in real intimacy anymore.

I tried it ONE TIME when it first came out and I was newly divorced. There was only one site back then. I was on for a couple of days (literally not even one week) when I saw my boss (fat pasty guy with a swimsuit pic for his profile) on it and immediately dismantled my profile. Never looked back, never tried any of the apps. Refuse to look at hook up apps.

I honestly started just to find local friends which I clearly put in my profile. Of course, that doesn't stop people from trying to hook up though and so I would get messages asking for that too. Eventually one guy seemed interesting enough to get to know better than just friends.

Because I was divorced with almost no social network, or at least no network of friends my age who might introduce me to their single friends. Also because I was non-religious in a mostly religious town. It was much easier to find non-religious women online. Match worked well for me.

Its a start and may bring opportunities but I would avoid it since I am able to have conversations with women in public.

No specific reason, I just thought it would be easier.. But it's easier IRL, because women get to see you instead of just pictures..

I found it extremely hard to get any conversations going. And the ones that did happen didn't go good for very long.

I did the first. It took 3 months. 300 unsolicited texts. 30 conversations. Narrowed down to 7 prospects, then 3, then 1 girlfriend, who lasted 3 months.

A lot work for 1 girl that lasted for 3 months. Still better than me. I went for 13 years and ended up with nothing.
