Do you have late bloomer syndrome?

Question

I feel like I do because I grew up a quiet shy nerd and I didn't really get to experience dating until now.

I had chances in college but I was so hung up on the bad boy I lost my virginity to that I never gave anyone else a chance.

Then after college, I was so depressed over that guy that I didn't actively start dating someone until 31 with my ex.

Now that I'm single again, I feel like it's such a scary feeling because I don't know what the hell I'm doing. I feel lost. I don't know how to flirt or say things that would reel in a guy more.

Does anyone else feel like a late bloomer?

Yes, I feel exactly like you, was more of a shy nerd growing up as well and haven’t really had much experience dating either. It’s a little confusing to navigate the dating world now but I’m sure with a little practice and putting myself out there more, I’ll figure it out. Think of it like this, every wrong person you meet, is leading you one step closer to your future husband; because now you know what you like and don’t like in someone.

Yes and im still a lat bloomer lol. But don't try to reel someone in. Let it happen. If its want to be everything will come together... if your force something then by doing that you don't know if its real. Until somewhere down the road. So don't force anything just let it happen

I was a late bloomer myself. Much of it was due to the fact that, in short, our father was crazy (really) and did not allow my sister and I to date. She did it secretly, had boyfriends galore, and at 17 she once had a boyfriend of age 31, but I took my father's illness seriously and was terrified of him. I remember when one boy took my phone number just as we graduated, and when he called and my father answered it. He was in the kitchen the whole time listening to the entire conversation.

Boys in school liked me. One was a really good- looking Italian guy who had movie star looks, and would open the double doors for me at school (which I avoided and took another one); another one (literally off the boat from Italy) looked at me once in our auditorium and said, "Che Bella!" and this Chinese boy who once asked me out to go to a party, I refused, and he stepped on my art folder purposely the next day in class. I say these nationalities because the ironic part is, I grew up in NYC and had plenty of opportunities to see so many guys, but I couldn't. Then I married my first boyfriend at age 26, and he turned out to be a super control freak with a bad temper. I divorced him.

So, I was a late bloomer with no luck with men, but now I do have someone I like a lot at my age, and I look forward to the day I can move to his country. Not to marry, just to see how things go and live there peacefully in a country I love.

dw im the opposite and i still suck at flirting lol its normal. like yeah experience helps with anything but who you are as a person is what matters most bc A LOT of experienced people suck at dating

I’d say comparatively , I bloomed late amongst my peers at the time , moving around didn’t help. I had much more sexual experience than dating experience until I was out of my teenage years. Then In my mid 20, s after my “fun” I kinda became the guy that was always in relationships pretty much until I had my heart completely broken , took me just over 2 years to recover from that where I never allowed myself more than speaking to another woman as it felt like my soul had been ripped out.

So yeah , maybe late bloomer to some extent especially on the relationship side of things

No, I was an early bloomer. So, I don’t know how it feels. But what I can share is that feeling comfortable in your own skin makes it much easier to connect with anyone on any level, in a natural way. And that authenticity can be like a magnet. So do the work to get comfortable with yourself and the unique, fascinating person you are. You’ll shine.

Yeah, I think a lot of people feel like late bloomers these days — it’s totally normal. Dating can be confusing and scary no matter when you start, so don’t be hard on yourself. You’re just figuring things out at your own pace, and that’s perfectly okay.

Very much so, I remember kids I went to school with entering puberty and I wondered WTF was wrong with all of them, they weren't any fun anymore. Girls expected me to be like the other boys were and wanted to flirt and show off. I didn't know what the fuck they were doing or why. I just wanted the world I knew back. It was another year before I even got near where they were. I noticed the dumber you were the quicker it happened.

I don't know about being a late bloomer but I focused on sport and school as a teenager (there was a toxic girl who had a thing for me when I started High School who basically stalked me for 2 years so maybe that kept my head down) and it wasn't till at uni I had girlfriends.

No I wasn’t a late bloomer but looking back I wish I took a little longer that I did. It’s like this it was the summer between 6th and 7th grade and there was this chick that lived around the block from me Rebecca she looked like Linda Carter and had a hot little body I was 12 and she was 16 she had a swimming pool. Now I’m not saying that I lost it because I know where it’s at she just borrowed it that whole Summer… Man that was a great summer she turned me on to something that was better than the ice cream man. What you do or feel is what a lot of people struggle with daily, I can’t say if its normal or not to stress over such a thing, Mecai we’re brainwashed everyday by our peers , social media, society etc to act and do things in a certain manner by such age

@simslover92 Yes, in many ways, and I think I became more outgoing and being myself after leaving high school and starting College. College life was more uplifting and allows you to be more expressive.

I was 16 and obese, under confident kid. I was very shy and never really made friends, kids made fun of me. I felt neglected. During my graduation college I opened up and started talking more, dating etc. But still not very confident. Now in 30s I feel so confident and m no more scared to open up a conversation. I love talking to strangers.

I married early, went through family court, then she came back, it was the only way to see my own kids because the laws were so whack and she learned how to play the system by her mom.

So, my late teens and 20s belonged to her, the army, and family court drama. So my early thirties is when I learned to date.

There are a lit of guys who understand, in their own unique way.

Was never lucky enough to have a partner. I wasted most of my life focusing on everything but romance and I paid for it. There is a glimmer of hope that I might at my 30s have a partner finally, but I don't know, I wouldn't bet on it
