Why are there so many clueless people?

I am talking about relationships, especially around here. Every day I see questions asked by what should be functioning, tax paying adults, that not even my children or nephews would ask.

Blue anon, aged (25-29) asks "She said 'hi' to me, does It mean she wants to sleep with me?"

Pink anon, aged (30-35) asks "He says he wants to be with me forever and marry me, does he like me?"

And so on with baffling questions, with those people supposedly in their 20s and 30s talking about their "crushes" (tee hee), running off and playing games instead of talking like well adjusted adults or throwing tantrums about their boyfriend/girlfriend not putting like on all their Instagram posts. Those goons have the audacity to get all uppity and indignant too when people point out they are acting like teenagers when their stated age is 29-35.

I wonder, have the social media and phones really turned our brains to mush like this?

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, though, this is not something new, nor is it unique to this site, either. It's seems like it's been getting worse, too.

Watch any news program, or social media post in which they interview a random person off the street. Most of those people don't seem like they have the brain power to breathe, let alone function on a daily basis. Then you realize that half of the population is even worse than them.

While many of the questions you mentioned are common sense, it is an unfortunate fact that a lot of people don't possess common sense, or critical reasoning skills. They were never taught. It's a failure of parenting, and the educational system.

I'm not saying that any of these people are stupid; they were just never taught reasoning, or critical thinking. They grew up in a bubble, and never learned to take care of themselves. They were dependant on their parents, who sheltered them, and never learned how to function as a mature, individual adult.

Schools just taught them how to memorize facts, so they could pass tests, rather than the deductive reasoning skills necessary to figure out such obvious answers. Until we start teaching this necessary skill again, we're going to see this downward spiral continue.

The entire purpose of this site is for people who don't understand things to ask about them. What may seem obvious to you might completely baffle someone else.

For some reason, relationships and many other social issues simply don't click with some people - like not at all.

Just like some people are good at advanced calculus, yet others are lucky to add two numbers together. The advanced calculus person can tell the other person that "All you have to do is...".

But they won't be able to do it no matter how hard they try, and how much you try to explain it to them.

We have all the information available to use, we live in an era where information is everywhere with a mere click and yet we all are all clueless regarding basic stuff. It is pretty sad when you think about it. I feel like the abundance of free information around us has made us quite lazy and we have gotten spoiled and dumb to the point that we need to be spoon-fed.

I think those are just stupid people who like attention and replies so they ask stupid questions. Since I doubt those people actually ever had a relationship if they can't even understand basic interactions or how to communicate with the opposite gender.

That is based on the reality of society. There are a lot of dumb people out there who can't think for themselves even if their life depended on it. It's why I don't think everyone should be allowed to vote.
