I know exactly why. Or at least what happens with me.

Your free, single, happy, sexual. You dress with confidence and a sexy flirty demeanour. It's attractive. You get interest. Finally a guy becomes your boyfriend. They loved how you looked, how you acted. But now? Now they find it threatening. They know how they were attracted to you and now fear other men see that. Fear if you are still projecting that confidence and demeanour it means your still signalling availability. So men make comments. This can vary from innocent "you really don't need to dress up for me. I love how you are naturally" to more abusive "put it away, why you dressing like a slut?". Or whatever. I got accuses of wearing make up meaning I'm looking for another guy and wearing leggings "flaunting" it before. Comments about my low cut tops.

Sooo. Maybe from love. Maybe you think it's compromising and healthy but you change. Maybe less make up, a little less effort, maybe you think it's OK. He's right. If he loves me and desires me looking like this does it matter? If dressing better makes me feel prettier but he acts a dick about it is it worth the fight?

So you change. And ugh the worse bit? Talk about frankensteina monster. The woman the guy now "made" you into is not as attractive anymore. Other free single confident women look better. So tensions rise, attraction drains. Relationship ends. Oh... wow... girl now is free to be herself again! And boom. Hello pretty lady again!

I know not all guys are assholes and msybe some don't realise they do it.. but I can guarantee this is the case in a lot of relationships. Otherwise some might genuinely be a woman getting too comfortable and slobbing out. But I think my scenario is more likely because even in a relationship women still want to look good to compete with the world at large and other women not just to attract a relationship or sex. What we really want? Is a guy who feels proud of us looking good! Who likes if other men find us attractive as a status. Confident in the fact he has "the woman" rather than fearful of her getting enticed away. A good man shouldn't need to worry of competition. A good man should enjoy a good woman not try to change and break her.

With a husband and 4 kids I could be anything, but alone sure as hell isn't one of them and as far as my time here, normally about 15 to 20 minutes with a cup of coffee in the morning just like right now.

I think that this is very common for me too, maybe even more than for women, since many guys hit the gym after a break up.
