That can be a touchy subject. If I pay for it it will make her happy. But if I ask to split it she may see me as weak and not financially reliable. Is probably pay for it just so she doesn't think I'm weak. Humans have the most complicated courtship rituals of any species on this planet.

If she sees you as weak for wanting to split a check, she’s not worthy of your time. Trust me, that’s the best way to filter out women. Some of us actually prefer splitting the check in the early stages of dating.

I would be happy to pay, but it wouldn't be about traditional gender values, it would be more that I want to show that I value her company.
If she wants to pay or split that's also cool, just as long as she doesn't think paying will get me into bed.

It's a shallow question. The point of a date isn't about who pays the check. It's to see if you can stand being in each other's presence for a few hours. Who pays is a social custom, not a moral test. If the man is more 'impoverished' in a spiritual sense, meaning he's less interested in a beautiful gift or a fancy dress, then by paying for the date he might actually be more generous than the woman. But honestly, it doesn't matter. The whole point is to get to know each other. So, no, you don't make the woman pay, and it shouldn't be about who pays. It should be about whether you can tolerate each other.

I will pay but aspect from a woman to at least offer to me to pay half with me. If she doesn't its a red flag to me and altough I will still pay... a second date wouldn't be there anymore
