Personally if I go out of my way to ask you out I'm definitely paying for the first date unless you're being rude the whole time or it seems like you're trying to take advantage of me and just get the most expensive stuff if we go to a restaurant with no intention of us going out again.

I’m not a greedy person but I think he’s communicating a lack of interest if he can’t spend $9 buying me a chicken sandwich when we say hi to each other. If he’s poor, I don’t mind visiting Tim Hortons or McDonald’s.

If the place of choice was somewhere like that and he didn't communicate his financial situation beforehand thats a huge problem in my opinion lol. But yea I can see how harping on how much you're spending will give the impression of disinterest.

No, I’d prefer that we pay for our own meals and drinks. Some guys will pay for your date and then use it against you, saying that you owe them sex or a second date.

This is true, some guys will think that since they paid for you that their owed something. Which is completely stupid because they aren't owed anything.

He paid for the first few dates, but after that we definitely were a permanent/long-term couple and we started sharing the expenses. That was over 20 years ago.

My reasoning for paying is if Im the one that invited them out, but like if it was someone I'd known for awhile or it was a more mutual wanting to get to know each other I wouldn't mind them paying for themselves but I wouldn't push it if it was my idea to hang out

I would think so
