A 30-year-old woman dating a 17-year-old guy. What do you think?

Football player (or maybe I should say soccer player) Lamine Yamal, 17 years old, was seen on vacation with 30-year-old Spanish influencer Fati Vázquez. Their relation has been a topic in several news stories.

Are we dealing with double standards? Apart from the news itself, no-one really makes any comments about the age difference. I have a feeling that, if it was the other way around, a 30-year-old man seen with an underage girl, it would spark loads of negative comments.

I make fun of this double standard all the time and it's been around for a long time. One of my favorite troll moves is to say something like "I banged a 16-year-old!!!" and let the negative comments flow in... then I hit them with the punch line after being called a pedo by these self-righteous know-it-alls over and over. "I banged her when I was 14-years-old!!!

These people are programmed and the age and gender things you've identified here is just part of their programs. Go back a few hundred years and these people's ancestors were hella old when they were knocking up a hot 14-year-old and they're here on this earth from that and now judge it like it's the worst thing ever.

So what do I think... I think that 17-year-old dude is hella horny and this chick just wants young dick inside her. Probably wants some of that football money for 18+ years. Society isn't going to make a stink about it because society in general is gynocentric and will just say he's a lucky boy and convinced that woman can not be looking for an easy target like a man would. That's what I think.

Of course it’s a double standard. There’s a lot of double standards that women get away w. Like being able to go on tv or live platforms trashing men, saying we don’t need men. But men can’t do the same cause they’d be destroyed. But this isn’t just on women either. It’s a double standard because most of us men aren’t going to say a damn thing either. Most of us men will saying something like lucky bastard. I wish that shopped to me when I was younger. A lot of women seem to think when a much older woman goes for a younger man it’s cute but when it’s the other way around it’s creepy.

That's so creepy and really disturbing. You're right. If the guy was 30 and the girl was 17, people definitely would have reacted negatively openly and called him a creep. Someone posted a question (last week) about a woman who cheated on her husband with her 14 year old step son.. she gave him weed and seduced him and they ended up having it and yet she only got two years in prison and two years of community service. I was appalled by the outrageous leniency of the court's sentencing in this case.

But the truth is people develop differently


Yamal is a prodigy football player practically carrying the hopes of a nation’s future in a sport
He’s a matured adult dealing with life already


He’s not a late bloomer still played PlayStation and eating leftover pizza


So morally I see nothing wrong with him dating an older woman


As far as legality goes: it is legal in Spain since he’s over 16 so that’s no issue either


Verdict: what we think about it doesn’t really matter.

the reason for the double standard is typically because men are bigger and stronger than women, even a 17 year old guy over a 30 year old woman

that physicality differential apparently negates whatever "power" she has over him

Being honest with you, ANY 30 yr old who wants to be with anyone under the age of 21, usually is just a predator of some sort. There is no way the average 30 yr old would be able to relate to anyone under the age of 21 in any way shape or form.

Not really a double standard that's legal in Spain therefore they don't care and it's not underage. Same goes for my country and many others including even US with some states.
