I don't think I could deal with bagpipes. I'm not a particular fan of harmonica, either.

I might find some wind instruments, especially the clarinet, annoying. And trumpets are loud. Sax is pretty cool, though, and I like the pennywhistle.

I obviously like drums, but listening to someone practice might be a drag.

I like bowed instruments, especially cello.

I would be most intrigued by piano/keyboards, guitar or bass since I play guitar.

I knew a guy who played cello and was also an electronic wiz. He had an acoustic cello and also a futuristic electric cello that he could plug into effects peddles. He could create loops to make himself sound like several people playing at once.

One time, I had the privilege of singing Stand By Me by Ben E. King at a gig. I was accompanied by a bass, a guiro, and the cellist. The bass and guiro were repetitive and easy, but the cellist did a version of the string part masterfully on his acoustic cello. It was very moving.
