At the age of 14 I started to learn Guitar. Alan Collin of Lenard Skynard fame and Gary Rossington were classmates and neighbors. I chose to go a separate route. Fingerpicking Folk, a style that led me to many different genres to include Bossa nova , Light jazz, Bottleneck Blues, both Six String and Twelve String. Show Tunes and Instrumental Classical. Later I took on Mandolin, Cuatro de Puertoriquenno , and of course Ukulele. As my hands started to fail I started playing Dobro and Lap Steel. I inherited a 1905 Washburn Violin which I started to learn but when the cat bit my elbow every time i played I figured that was nature telling me to stick to what I knew. Throughout all of this my instrument of investigation was piano which is what my mother played while she was pregnant with me. I am sure that whatever talent I had came from her resting her pregnant belly on the keyboard while she played. I sing Now.
I forgot 5 string Banjo, Had to sell my five string to pay for my son's birth. Built one in later years.
I played saxophone from 3rd grade through college. And if you play sax in college, you're going to play flute, clarinet, and bass clarinet too, because you are expected to be versatile.
I started teaching myself piano and drums in junior high, and I have lately been trying to learn bass guitar, but progress has been slow. Stringed instruments just don't come easy for me.
Strumming a guitar brings the same thrill as conquering a final boss. 🎸 Though I'm more adept at navigating virtual worlds, I’ve dabbled in learning guitar. It's a fantastic way to unwind and challenge myself outside gaming, and sometimes I find melodies that inspire my in-game adventures. Balancing different hobbies keeps the excitement alive, whether it's harmonizing guitar strings or orchestrating a tactical victory in my favorite game. 😊

I play guitar.
I got my first one (an acoustic) when I was eleven. I got my first electric about a year later.
The first lead I tried to learn was the one from the long version of Light My Fire by the Doors.
When I entered high school in the fall of 1969, I got turned on to bands like Cream and Hendrix and, soon after, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple.
I met other musicians and started learning more.
I started playing in a garage band with a drummer, bass player, and me on guitar and vocals. One of my signature songs was Highway Star by Deep Purple.
I went on from there for over 10 years and was in bands that covered lots of rock music.
I got a corporate job in 1980, had to cut my rock star hear and start wearing a suit.
Around 1983 or 4, my guitar wound up in a closet and I didn't play for 20 years.
In the mid-2000s, I picked it up again and started playing a wider variety of music. I also learned how to sing really well.
By 2010, I had my own band again. We got pretty good and had almost 20 songs down pat. We played a few gigs. But everything shut down in 2020 when the covid mandates and hysteria struck.
I don’t really play anything anymore but in high school one of my favorite classes as band class. I started off with trumpet at age 12 but I struggled with the high notes. According to my band teacher it wasn’t that I was bad at it, it was because my mouth wasn’t shaped right to hit those notes so I ended up switching to clarinet which went much better. We got to choose what instruments we wanted to play but we had to have a first choice and then a second and third in case one or two didn’t work out which is what happened to me. I think my third choice was the flute which is what my younger sister chose to play when she got to that age.
I been playing bass since I was 11 years old , I also play guitar as well but mainly bass Geddy Lee is my idol , his style of bass playing blows me away. I mainly just play for fun nowadays , but back then I played in some local bands that unfortunately didn’t last , but it was fun and a cool experience
I personally have had an in interest for drums. Everytime a song comes on I try to follow the beat of the drums with my hands. My second instrument of interest would be the violin but I don't see myself sticking with it so I'd go for piano instead. I do know 3 guys who play piano so it'd be easier to find someone to coach me vs drums.
Been goofing around with an acoustic guitar for a bit. Can’t do much, but can sort of do a Muzak rendition of the melody to A Horse With No Name. Played it for a couple friends and they instantly recognized it, so it comes out reasonably well, I guess, haha
love that song
Don't Stop, keep layering on new stuff and you will find yourself going back and altering the older stuff. Build a Rep
Piano/keyboards since the age of 8 (classically trained) and have been learning guitar for the past few years. My husband plays bass and drums.
Guitar and piano… learning the violin over the summer — just bought the piece and will be taking lessons May/June.
I guess we could say I'm relearning guitar. I haven't played much over the last few years because I've been so busy.
I don't play any of them...
however, I've recently gotten a guitar and a keyboard, which... I've been playing with from time to time
I tried to learn piano but I don't have talent for music and singing
Mostly drums but I also dabble in bas, keys and am trying to learn tabla. Maybe, some day, I'll even get a Chapman Stick.
I used to play trumpet and french horn but got issues with my hands now so can't really play
I played trombone in Elementary and Jr High School. And many years later I dabbled in electric guitar and keyboards. Just out of interest and experimentation.
I play the alto sax for more than 10 years now. I play at the chamber band of the music school I learned to play the instrument in. Wonderful people by the way. And besides that I like to transcribe music to be able to play it! :)
Guitars - 6, 7, 8, and 12 string acoustic and electric. Piano/keyboards. Bass. Mandolin. Ukulele. Harmonica.
I love the sound of a viola. I tried learning once. Didn't go well. Still that's what I'd like to learn.
I do not play anything. I would love to play the oud. But unfortunately, ouds are very expensive. 🥹😓

I'm still trying to learn piano but I lack patience for it.
