How long should you talk on text before going on first date with someone to show you are in it for long term?

Sure, if you like what he had to say and feel like there's maybe a connection. The best thing you can do at that point would be at least to talk on the telephone. That would give you a better sense of the guy. I would not recommend meeting someone after 5 minutes of texting and talking on the phone is pretty harmless.

I would say how long you talk is a less important than how you ACT when you go out for the first time and beyond if you want it to last (and just as important IF IT'S CAPABLE of lasting). Most women simply do not choose very good men and then never consider the most obvious, glaring reason it failed. She simply did not choose a man capable of a long term relationship.

Be open, be honest, be real. That's your best bet. You don't want to be that? Then you deserve to fail.

I once dated a woman that told me she was a Buddhist, she was into sustainable living, and she was a vegetarian. Everything she said screamed "RUN" to me.😆 But I reluctantly agreed to meet her. Turns out, she wasn't a Buddhist. She just liked Zen sayings. She wasn't really into sustainable living she just recycles. And she wasn't a vegetarian. She just tried to eat healthy. I had disdain for the woman until I met her. Then we had 2 hr. Long conversation that I really liked. I concluded that she was just trying to sound interesting before we met when she only came off as a flake.

This why you should ALWAYS be YOU. Don't try to be someone you're not. You gotta be yourself at some point. Might as well begin that way.👍

I was dating online for a while and quickly learned that extensive texting or talking before meeting is a waste of time. If a woman wasn't willing to meet for coffee or lunch, then she wasn't all that interested in dating, or at least not interested in dating me.
