Do women really have to look good to attract men?

The myth that women have to look good because men are visual exist still why? Men would sleep with a woman who grew facial hair, hairy armpits and just got out of jail lol. Super low standards if you ask me. So do women really have to look good? They say the average woman has the sexual selection of a celebrity male? Do y'all think thats true? I've seen legitimate "5s" (of all physical shapes) with rosters that included some good looking dudes. So for me.. I truly believe women can just roll out of bed without pound their face with makeup or going to the gym every week.. but let me know if Im wrong.. thoughts?

A woman has to have an attractive face and figure to attract me initially.

I want them to differentiate themselves from men as much as possible and look feminine with silky-smooth shaved legs and underarms, groomed nails and an attractive hair style. I admire women who try to look pretty.

Hair on women seems anomalous considering their completely smooth faces, torsoes, butts and thighs. It seems natural for them to be smooth all over. And shaving is no more unnatural than a man shaving his face, grooming his mustache and beard, or getting a haircut.

A bit of makeup is fine as long as it looks natural.
I would NOT be attracted to someone with gaudy makeup and unnatural-looking eye lashes. I think that girl in the photo is grotesque. I prefer clean, fresh, girl-next-door types.

I think women have taken care of their skin and done things to look pretty since pre-history. They embellished their clothes, wore bangles and necklaces, plaited their hair, and at times wore makeup in the form of colored ocher.
Women have worn various forms of make up like henna, berry juice and kohl throughout history. Women even used things like chalk and white lead to lighten their complexions. Some cosmetics were obviously toxic.

Ancient Egyptians, some ancient Greeks and Romans (primarily prostitutes), and women in ancient Mesopotamia shaved body hair for aesthetic and hygienic reasons. The practice was also common in parts of ancient India and the Mediterranean. So shaving is nothing new.

So women have always tried to look good in order to appeal to men and/or attract suitable mates.

There are a lot of men with extremely low standards for women. They would sleep with anything that has a pussy. So this is not true for a good percentage of men.

However, there are men who have standards in terms of physical attraction. Men who would rather be alone than to be with someone who they don't find attractive.

It's usually better looking men who end up with better looking women and worse looking men that end up with worse looking women. There is a similarity and familiarity attraction effect in psychology. It's why the elite generally date the elite and end up having the best looking kids as well.

depends how attractive they want the guys to be and if it's just for sex or dating. i feel like good looking guys will sleep with any girl that's at least a bit cute but won't sleep with truly average looking women & below obv. average looking men will sleep with any average looking women to maybe very slightlly unattractive. some can fuck fat women but they have a fetish. but for dating, men have much higher standards for looks than for sex. attractive men won't date just cute women, they want solidely attractive women. average looking men don't want super average looking women they want women that are on the better end of average looking or a bit pretty. though some still want models.

I think that’s true for some men just like it’s true for some women. Biologically, it makes sense for men to be less selective and women to be more selective since men historically have tried to “spread their seed” as far and wide as possible to select for their “best” traits and produce progeny with those traits.

That being said, there are PLENTY of women I wouldn’t sleep with even if given the consequence-free chance. I guess it just comes down to individual preference, where you see your own value/how you measure yourself, and some biology.

Looking good certainly helps a woman to capture male attention and has at least been true since Helen of Troy.

Basic biology tells us it is advantageous for a woman to at the minimum to chose a superior man to impregnate her but it is better still if she can get him to support the kiddies.

However because it can only take less than a minute, it is advantageous for a man to attempt impregnation of as many women as possible. It is culturally independent that men prefer good looking women.

The idea of needing making to be attractive, is so ingrained in society over a thousand years, that women have gained a major insecurity of thinking they need it to be pretty, and natural beauty is ugly. Well, I somewhat agree with you, but I also think that the more attractive a woman, the more men will be be after her, obviously. So, if she wants a lot of suitors to choose from (and especially if she wants *good-looking* suitors or rich ones or ones with a great personality or...), she'd be better off looking good.

Re the "5s," sometimes looks imbalances happen in relationships, but I think for the most part, people pair up with people of roughly similar ugliness levels. Though I have been seeing an increasing number of fit guys going out with fat or chubby girls, I suspect because so many of them are fat now that it's the new norm and most of the thin ones are taken up by even better-looking guys or guys with better game or whatever.
