Are women actually physically attracted to (good-looking) men or are they just conditioned by society to do so?

It is obvious and well known that men are instantly triggered by a hot woman, especially a naked hot woman showing her body. It is scientifically known that massive chemicals are triggered in the brain and that men cannot think properly when aroused.
But women consistently say they only feel attraction to men based off personality and his words said to her, and even then they themselves do not really know how their (sexual) mind works. It is reasonable to conclude that the physical desire/attraction that women have for men is so minimal that they can easily be turned off if man says the wrong words to her.

The scientific answer:

Yes (most) women are definitely physically attracted to good-looking men. You always have to distinguish between SEXUAL (short-term mating) and EMOTIONAL (long-term mating) attractiveness. (Most) women are sexually attracted to anything that is an indicator of so called „good genes“ (high genetic fitness). Good genes mean that the offspring the woman could have with this “good-genes man“ would have a high chance of both 1. survival and 2. reproduction success. That’s why she wants to secure these good genes for her offspring.

Good looking is one of these indicators for good genes. Good looking of course has an individual component, but there are also evolutionary evolved cross-cultural attractiveness features that most women are attracted to. It’s basically anything that correlates with a high Testosteron level. Testosterone weakens the immune system. So why does testosterone attract women? Because a man with a high testosterone level signals to the woman: "hey, I have such a good immune system (i. e. such good genes) that I am healthy in spite of all the testosterone!“ A man with bad genes could not afford such a high testosterone level. That is why testosterone is attractive. It’s called a „handicap“ strategy because the man handicaps himself to prove that he has good genes. Many animals use this strategy...

But the woman can not directly see the testosterone level of a man, but she can (subconsciously) observe characteristics that correlate with a high testosterone level. On the one hand, these are behaviors such as: dominance, assertiveness, etc.. and on the other hand, these are external features such as: muscular, wedge-shaped torso, prominent, masculine chin, strong beard growth, etc.. also a deep voice...

But this is only the purely sexual attractiveness. And the reality is much more complicated, as a woman's mate preferences varies depending on the point in time in her hormonal cycle. On fertile days, testosterone is particularly attractive. But that's another story. Google "dual mating strategy" or "ovulatory shift hypothesis" if you want to learn more.

Well its just like how most men are attracted to good-looking physically fit and healthy women. But then they are socially conditioned for tall dark handsome by other women.

Women are biologically motivated to find protection from men. We don’t just assume a strong guy is going to give us the protection we need, like he is useless if he doesn’t listen or recognise threat. Imagine a cave man who wanted to pat a T-Rex 🦖... he ain’t gonna keep us alive.

Yes I feel physically attracted to certain men. However that alone does not mean I will date or sleep with them. Other factors are important in their mannerisms or how they treat others.

Thanks for answering Tania, so I guess there is no way a women will sleep with a good-looking mentally ill man, whereas many men might do so with a good-looking mentally ill woman.(yes we are THAT crazy!)

Although I once acted overly weird and aggressive almost talking like Sherlock Holmes in High school chem class and a girl obviously paid attention and told me to bring her flowers to the basketball game but i did not cuz i was bored and she was lame looking LOL. I regret it now.

Good looks are optional. They are attracted to guys who can cause her to feel certain emotions. They are emotional beings. Sometimes looks matter but confidence is important.

Sexual attraction is not a matter or social conditioning. It predates the human species by millions of years. Maybe you're unaware of this, but female animals are attractef to male animals.
