Why are my parents pushy about me dating?

Im 27 years old and i still live at home (economy sucks) im an RVT (registered veterinary technician) the other day my stepmom told me that they want me to start dating and i said that it will happen when its the right time and she said when and i said that it happens when it happens and i went on to say that some people dont get married until 40 years old and i have time still. She told me to try “harder”. I said im not interested in anyone. These days people meet online. I have a dating app and honestly none of the guys on there i find attractive. I dont drink so i dont go to bars or anything.

You date when the time is right… It’s not only bad for you but for someone else to pretend you love someone marry someone just to get married… Only to find out years later you aren’t happy and then meet someone you feel attracted to.

You’re a grown ass woman she needs to stay out of your business. It’s by far better to hold out for someone you’re genuinely attracted to not waste your own time much more the time of someone else.

Now, if there come a day you decide to do this at least be honest. But for real… some people never find someone and as bad as it sounds being alone is better then your life being hell with someone you’re miserable with.

Oh the dating apps…. Well yeah you’re right. Most people there to find a genuine relationship (as yourself) end up getting off the apps. When you have one extreme of people just wanting hook ups. The other extreme are people who frankly… can’t get anyone in real life and are desperate. Or just won’t touch grass.

Sounds as if they want you to live a life filled with quality experiences. Based on their own ideology of life. Some people like living on the edge while some like to be more modest. Each one has its perks but then again. The only way to live your life “your way” is to create your own environment. ie I constantly faced the same push until I moved into my own home.

I'd say follow your heart and don't let people dictate how to live your life. Finding a Partner is a a serious thing and if you're not yet ready for it then don't force it or let people's opinions get in your head.

If you want to know which guys are single, without disclosing your ulterior motive, go through the vet records of various clients. Married couples will often have both spouses listed on the record because one will be the primary to call and the other will be the backup. So, if you see a male client with no backup number or spouse listed, then you likely have found a single/divorced/widowed man.

The are some really good paying veterinary tech jobs out here in California (depending on qualifications), and some not so good paying. There's one for the city of Los Angeles animal shelter for $110,000 a year, but you're probably going to have to euthanize a shitload of animals.
