There's several red flags. But the most important in my opinion is lovebombing. Especially in the first few weeks. My ex did this to me and I almost broke up with him in the second week. Then he cried and said how he would hate me forever. He told me how he would get a new job (we worked together) and he would never speak to me again. At the time, I didn't realize he was just manipulating me and was weaponizing my emotions. I felt bad, instead, so I stayed. A few months later, I found out he cheated on me with his ex-girlfriend. I also witnessed this kind of behavior on a dating app. I was messaging this guy on Bumble and he got my number. He didn't straight up lovebomb me, but he messaged me things that felt a little too clingy for barely meeting him, and in general. So I pulled back and focused on other people I was messaging. After 1-2 days, he totally freaked out and sent me this long paragraph about how I was ghosting him and whatnot. Mind you, we had only been texting a total of 3-4 days. We had never even gone on a date. So I blocked him. A month later, he messaged me on Instagram and sent another paragraph about me ghosting him. So I blocked him on all of my social media. Then a month later, I saw his number pop up on my phone. My phone allows me to see in the call history when a blocked number has attempted to call me. He attempted to call me 5 times. So lovebombing/being clingy is a major red flag you can pick up on within the first week of dating and even texting. I mean, they don't know you enough to be this attached to you. Either they are planning on manipulating you, like in my first example. Or they are emotionally unstable, like in my second example. Another thing is always trust your gut. A lot of times, people refer to decision making as listening to your head or listening to your heart. But there is one more. Your head may tell you one thing. Your heart may tell you another. But your gut is always going to tell you the truth.
