How do you tell a girls age before you approach them?

Its happened to me twice now that I've approached girls I thought were cute but they were younger than what im into (im 26, I dont date under 21 personally) but its happened that both the girls i talked to were 19, any advice to tell the difference is appreciated thank you.

Look at the fingers. The knuckles specifically

If she looks young she’s likely young
At that point best to ask

I remember a girl approaching me at a bar once and insisting on dancing with me then I asked her age and she said 18
I’m 99% sure she was not 18

So I wished her a good evening and walked away
