I was the flower girl at a wedding and he was the ring bearer. We were both 3 going on 4 and everyone thought it was adorable to make us kiss and hug and dance and all that. Afterwards he chased me down and grabbed my hand to show me the dessert buffet table. We spent the rest of the night smuggling sweets under the table where we had a funny little picnic. Smooth operator, that one. Probably married with a dozen kids and a box of bonbons for his wife.

I guess I just never thought they were weird or gross or anything. I have an older brother I’ve always been close with, so I guess that’s why I was always comfortable with boys and thought some of his friends were cute
