For some context, I (27M) rarely make a point to get out there to social events outside of friend groups and it's been years since I've dated so I always need a refresh on how to approach them.
I recently joined a once a week adult martial arts class on a whim and happened to be the only beginner along with this other girl. She stood out to me right away but I kept my cool and didn't approach her first. During the break of the first class, she approached me and we had an introductory conversation for about ten minutes until the break was over. I wanted to follow up with her afterwards as she stuck around but I was pulled away by an instructor and she eventually left.
Now once again I'm in the zone of what do I do from here on out? If this class is only once a week then when is appropriate to ask her out? I am obviously going to have more opportunities to get to know her as the weeks go by but I don't want to rush it or take too long. I'm also scared of making things awkward if things go south.

Honestly, if you wait for the right moment, you will be still umming and ahhing into next decade.
Of course, she may so no. But that little commitment and initial relaxed approach, she can easily brush off without much embarrassment your way.
So I say, go for it and good luck. And do not be foolhardy and let chances go to pass.
get better at fighting until she can't ignore you anymore
since this is a common hobby you both share, you might as well be the best at it
