When you are just beginning to date a new person, what's the best way to find out things about them?

My dating years were interesting to say the least.
I remember one guy just coming out and asking me "So, what's your story"?
Some guys peppered me with so many questions that I actually thought about having all of my standard answers already written down and just hand him the paper so I wouldn't feel like I was interviewing for a job.

Keep conversation going , and just enjoy the moment with each other , Don’t ask them question after question like you are giving them a job interview , just keep the conversation going and little by little , throw out a question to them. As time goes on and you both are still seeing each other , and the things you asked them are true , then you know you met someone genuine instead of just someone that just wants to get laid

The general pattern is I share on a topic, you share on that or another topic, as part of a conversation. I'm an open book; if they don't want to share then it is 90% likely the relationship will never go anywhere. You can hang on for a bit and see if some trust will help radically, but it's a strong reason to walk away. Doing the work of both sides of a relationship is not very rewarding.

no... I don't do that, well... I've never done that before

first I make sure I get to know about them some or enough, and then I become interested on going out with them and only if the interest is mutual

but, how does this usually happen? well... as it has happened, they happened to be people who I was in contact with often enough, and we would hang out as part of a group and there we had the chances to get to know each other and find out a bit more from one another... and it was from that, that we took it a step further and started to hang out one on one... what most people would consider a "date" happens way after

I just let the conversation flow. I don’t A whole lot Of asking because people tend to tell you what they want you wanna hear so I pay close attention to what people say and much closer attention to what they do. When you’re observant and you read between the lines, you find out everything you need to know.

If you don’t have time for that, you can go on their social media cause most people have no filter and tell all of their business online.

I think for most men we aren’t offended by you asking all these questions. But w that said I’d say just have a conversation, toss in a question every so often rather than bombarding him w questions like it’s an interrogation. Again I don’t think lost men would have an issue w it unless you were coming at him w an attitude w those questions. Just start talking, then as the conversations goes along there’s times to throw in those questions. Like writing a paper for school. You’re not going to toss marriage into a paragraph that’s talking about what’s your favorite foods.

The "what's your story" is a great question to ask! It allows them to naturally tell you all about themselves without being narcissistic.

But anyways to answer the question, just talk to them like you're really interested in them. Inevitably you'll be curious about some part of them/their life and then you just ask.

I'm not sure that things are always as absolute as that , I'd say just ask , but only to a degree , people will give different answers dependent on who is across the table.

There are subtle psychological questions available to you online. It is good to read over them carefully and memorize them. Of that first coffee at Starbucks. You try to work them into the dialog.
