What more important to guys on the dating scene general connection or physical attractiveness?

I am getting mixed vibes from this guy at work. We do not talk much because we work in different departments but we cross paths in the break room. He is physically fit and i am not but i still like there may be some interest. Im just lookin for opinions how important is the physical attractiveness over a general connection. In the past guys have told me what a great women I am but I always get friend zoned. Opinions please!

Dating scene does not, psychologically, exist.

At best, it can be studied sociologically but that's it. Whereas your question aims at people's feelings, a thing that cannot be studied because the object is much too subjective and volatile.

What's "more important to guys" permanently escapes everyone's comprehension. At best, you'll collect answers from some guys of a distinctively niche community such as this one, this collection will be ridiculously far from technically represent guys opinions as a whole. No one can possibly know what the general opinion is.

To add even more to this confusion, your physical attractiveness, as seen from your eyes, is not physical attractiveness as seen from someone else's eyes. You can't know what's anyone's perception of physical attractiveness unless you're connecting actively to them in order to make sense of what they think. And that is, assuming they are even making sense of their own attraction lol.

Plus, physical attractiveness, when getting to know someone, isn't even quantifiable per se, it's an unsteady feeling that may come and go depending on contexts, moods, histories... and general connection.

Since physical attractiveness and general connection are interweaving in anyone's mind, they are dynamic and interdependent.

Well men are visual creatures so yes a woman being beautiful/gorgeous and physically attractive is important even for dating. However, how much importance a man gives is subjective. Eventually personality, behaviour, mindset of the woman is also noticed.

Depends on the guy and what he wants from the specific gal. Some gals are fluff-for-brains and very nice looking. Others have attractive personalities that draw people to them. Many have both looks and attractive personalities.

I have to cast my mind back to the dating scene. I seem to recall I had connection with a lot of people, most of whom I didn't want a relationship with. I imagine it's much worse in the age of Social Media.

For most guys it’s physical attractiveness, but that doesn’t mean this guy doesn’t think you’re attractive. Sometimes fit guys are attracted to women who aren’t super fit.
