Should I take a shot at this woman who is a work contact?

I am in public relations and she is a news anchor... I didn’t think she was interested in me, but she seemed excited to see me at this event I invited her to…. I was thinking of saying this to her.::

Just throwing this out there…. would you be open to FaceTiming sometime, and maybe grabbing dinner when you’re next up here or when I’m in DC? No pressure at all, just wanted to ask.

Sounds weak as shit. For starters, if you're really interested in her, call her and say: " I'm going to be in DC for a few days _________ (whenever) and I'd love it if you joined me for dinner". Or if you prefer something a little milder, " I'd love to take you to dinner if you're available". Then she what she says. If she says "sure", make the date and you're going to DC.

NEVER, EVER say shit like "just throwing this out there, no pressure". Even worse, don't THINK it !! It shows a lack of confidence and women will eat you alive if you do that.

I wouldn’t normally say that, but I’m trying to be diplomatic. I had let this go before because of the reason I mentioned, but I really do think it’s more likely than not that she could be interested in me. So I feel like I need to try. I’m in DC every couple of months. She’s from/her family lives about an hour from me in Jersey. I’m not tied to where I am, but yeah, we’re not very close most of the time.

You don't come off as diplomatic, you come off as weak. If she's showed interest in you, that's your cue, make a move. The suggestions I gave you are plenty diplomatic without sounding like you're apologizing for even asking.

It was still weak, but at least you know now not to waste any more energy on her. For future reference, "would you be open to " blah, blah, blah is a lot weaker than " Would you care to join me dinner next time I'm in DC", or "I'd love to take to dinner when I'm back in DC, what do you think?"

I’ve met her once a year ago and again yesterday.. She seemed quite a bit more interested in talking to
me this time.. but she did bring her parents last time, so maybe that was part of it. With her sister she was more relaxed
