Guys, do you ever wish you had your own personal secretary to do some of the things that you don't like doing, like phone calls, paperwork, etc?

I have a great friend, Dale, and he's really great with some things in life, but he has a little trouble with completing necessary paperwork he has to fill out. And he prefers me to make telephone calls to obtain information for him.
My late boyfriend had ADHD and he also needed help with paperwork or it just wouldn't get done unless I helped out.

Both of them are/were greatful that I was a genuine secretary by profession and it really helped them a lot.

This subject is at the same time both funny and very serious.

Wouldn't just about everyone love to have a personal secretary?
I know that I would.
And a maid, a butler, a chef, masseuse, chauffeur, etc.
Lol.

On the serious side, though, I now find myself in a position where I've had to rely upon ongoing consistent support from both my business-minded sister as well as the sister of my recently deceased wife for many important as well as essential tasks in order for me to keep body and soul together and living under a roof.
They provide loving understanding and emotional support, too.
They're grieving my wife, as well right now also, in their own ways, but they've got the wherewithal to help me in ways that are sorely needed.

My sister-in-law, a widow herself for some years, says that she is greatly helped in her grieving of her sister in our long talks together.
No, we're not falling in love with each other, but the blossoming of our relationship in sharing our guts with each other is very wonderful.

And my own sister is just naturally driven to help others in time of need.
Our older brother calls her a saint.
I agree.

Although being a very independent man in the past, events of recent years have taken a very huge toll on both my body and psyche.

I'm giving life the best that I've got for now, and hope and strive for more strength in the future.

I'm extremely grateful to have the help of my sister and my sister-in-law, and I let them know that they're appreciated as often as seems appropriate.
I'd be in bad shape without their assistance.

I'm sure that your friend and late boyfriend are and were appreciative of your help.

I recently became the direct superior of a young college who just started his career
In our line of work you do a lot of secretarial work early on to learn the ins and outs of the profession before you’re left in charge


I must admit it’s a weird feeling


Someone will ask me to do something I’m very used to do but my associate immediately jumps in and takes care of it then comes to me for “approval”


It will take some getting used to for sure


I just hope I can be a good influence on his career and not a bad one
Because I myself had both not so long ago
The good was great but the bad was unbearable
Yet both taught me a lot in their own way

I work freelance, but do everything myself. Phone calls are largely replaced now by emails and text messages. It's so much easier to reply to a message. Phone calls always seem to come in at the worst possible time, or when I'm driving.

I see my work as running a small company, where I am my own boss and my own employee. I'm only accountable to myself, foor good or bad. Paperwork is necessary, sending out invoices in time is crucial. I just see it as little, necessary steps within the whole picture.

So you are your own secretary as well as all of the other things that run your business.
Secretaries are great to have though. You wouldn't have to work as hard and would have more free time.

You're absolutely correct. But it wouldn't be financially viable. Subtracting a wage from my total income, taking into account other expenses, is just not possible.
