Would you want a personal assistant?

I don't have a personal assistant, but my wife and I employ a couple of service people, like it's proper for families like ours to do.

One is my father's old gardener, which does a lot of phisical tasks around the house and more - although I have to share him with my father's widow - the other is my wife's ex high school deskmate. She does a mixture of domestic work and other tasks, such as taking care of the children, buying groceries, getting our cars washed and refueled, occasionally accompany me to events when my wife can't although I'm not very thrilled about that, bevause of the impression it can give.

Overall she's a trusted person, she has the keys to our home and the alarm codes, and I appreciate that unlike my mother or my father's widow doesn't meddle between me and my wife.

For us personally is a great help.
She gets done all the things we don't have the time to do, and is someone we can trust with our private affairs.
Sometimes she eats with us or takes part in family/friend events and she's very good in keeping that balance between being an honorary family member and not overstep boundaries.
The only thing is that she's my wife's employee and friend first, so my wife is the first person she listens to, and not me.

I hired* one for a big project I was working on a while back and it was top 10 greatest decisions I ever made in my life, in the game changing decisions category, it might even place top 5.

Your life is way easier, a good one will be excited to prove themself to you by providing helpful perspective and info.

If you can get an assistant, do it, you'll be way more productive and way less burnt out. Also makes working with clients so much easier.

My personal assistant sucks my dick. She also helps me with other tasks I simply can't do or wouldn't do... like licking my nutts.

I keep several personal assistants around for these tasks... I'll text them when I feel that I need their help.

I have just got a genealogy commission to check and produce drop line drawings. I need an assistant to help me read what I find. My eyesight is still so poor.

I can take of everything by myself but when we decide to have kids I might need to have a nanny to help me with the kids.

We have people who engage in the lawn maintenance business, in the general handyman business, etc., but they serve a larger population of customers.

So there they don't work esclusively for one client?
Although I can see why it wouldn't be prevalent in the US - this kind of job is an evolution from the old servants of nobility.
Although unlike servants back then, service people get paid very well, they can reach even 4000-5000€ per month depending on the customer.

Having servants is something that only the top 2-3% would do, and then it would probably be a maid/cook.

I have one she is fantastic and keeps all my important information and calls tracked and logged so I don't miss things. I send her on 3 vacations a year because of how well she does.

I think it's good that the chain of command is specified. It might get a little complicated if she was accountable to both you AND your wife. So I think you are doing it the right way.
