Basically excessive criticism, lack of communication, and no empathy at all. Verbally and mentally abusive family. They lack boundaries and are so controlling.

It depends on how impactful those family issues are, and whether or not they affect my relationship negatively. Like with my fiancé, he has different issues happening for different members of his family and they all seem to vent to him about it all. But those things don’t have anything to do with our relationship, the most he’ll do is ask my opinion as things go on.

Because I’m dating this guy right now but he doesn’t know I’m having problems with my family. He believes that I have a great family and I don’t. I haven’t even mentioned to them about him. Because my mom literally talked shit about my last boyfriend and my dad was being obsessed with knowing every detail. So i don’t know how it’s going to work if he ask to meet them. It depends, because that can really kill a relationship. If somebody’s got a really complicated history with parents or sister or a niece or nephew, it is such a complicating factor. Particularly if it deals with health issues. You’re going to have to accept going in that right away you’re not going to be the number one priority. That’s the type of thing you have to accept going in. It’s very hard.

I want no part of family drama. If she can't stay away from the family drama then I'm not dealing with that. Like if she always has to deal with problems because one of her family members is a criminal, drug addict, or something, those aren't her problems and she doesn't need to make them hers

It's not that big of a deal to me, assuming I dont have to live with them. My family definitely has dysfunctional, so I can't use that against a potential partner.

In that situation if the person is ready to move out and cut ties with the family then I would. Cause life is short and I don't want a ton of more problems in my life when I can avoid them.
