Haha, I'm from a dysfunctional family. I was abused as a child and had to go to the hospital as a teenager because of depression and schizophrenia (I started developing schizophrenia after awful abuse one time - I'm not naturally crazy lol).
My boyfriend was adopted, and his parents aren't the most loving people.
It makes it hard when you see someone suffer, but in a relationship, you're there to support the person. Just because you've come from a harsh past doesn't mean you can't pave the way for the future to become something beautiful.12 Reply- Asker+1 y

I tried it and it had been a huge factor of how my ex and I's relationship was tourn apart besides our own issues. Our immediate family did not get along whatsoever and I mostly took it to heart. I knew it wasn't going to work from that point on.

People out here saying “no”. I come from a bad childhood... it has taught me many things, and I’ve come out a better person than many who have an average life. So, take your opinion and shove it😘

Depends what you mean, mentally dysfunctional? Then yeah, if the person doesn't because of that then he's scared of you're gene's or just an asshole, if y'all fight a lot then y'all need to sit the fuck down and talk shit out like a family, it shouldn't be hard to get along.

I'm going to be dating someone pretty soon who has a dysfunctional family and rough past. I plan on being there for her.

@rahul_24 I see what you mean. She is pretty independent though. She has had some bad exs in the past and from what I know she does not have that much family around her mother and older relative. He mom is moving soon too. I think even if they don't accept me. We will still date.

Yes, my family isn't perfect either. I think as long as you are a good person, that's what should matter.

Both my boyfriend and I have dysfunctional families and it has absolutely no effect on our relationship... so yes, depending on what the dysfunction was, I suppose.
10 Reply I assume the girl isn't dysfunctional? If so i don't care, if you truly love someone their family isn't a problem.

As long as that person does not act like the family, it shouldn't matter.

Yes. Prince Harry did. Our families, does not determine our future. God does.
00 Reply Yes, but I'd tread carefully. Dysfunction breeds dysfunction more often than not
00 ReplyYeah, a person's family should have no bearing on if you date someone. It's about them. You can't pick your family
