For once an honest response on this issue! ๐
Women want to be cherished and it's a man's job to provide for her. Feminism can't change natural behavior. - 3 mo
@RingOfFire agreed. Everything is a negotiation and setting your value as a women has fallen out of the norm. #high standards

5.9K opinions shared on Dating topic. This is such a complicated topic. I know I'm very uncomfortable letting women pay, and I usually don't. I only do it if they repeatedly insist on it or make an issue out of it to the point where it becomes a problem between us. I have found that, for the most part, they don't do that. What I have found instead, is that, for the most part, they really don't want to pay, but they feel obligated to at least offer. I appreciate the fact that they attempt to fulfill the obligation, but I also know that if I ever let them do it, I have probably seen the last of them. I think for men, whatever they offer to pay, it becomes a lose-lose situation no matter what you do. This is not particularly surprising considering the fact that dating itself is very often a lose-lose situation. This is why most men I know, including myself, are very reluctant to date at best, and at most, just don't bother anymore. If you are a woman, and you're reading this, perhaps this short answer answers some of your questions about why we're not available anymore.

u 3 moNah, my boyfriend TRIES to get away with this at times but he knows I am stubborn about splitting most times or just paying outright and he goes along with it. I get why he tries, but I am glad he understands why I don't let it happen. I never want the expectation of anything happening nor do I want the guilt of always letting someone else pay my way constantly. I'd feel like a burden on them.

3 moI can't answer for women but my thinking goes something like this.
I like to pay to demonstrate generosity and a sense of appreciation. It gives me a sense of pride. Maybe a woman feels that same motivation or something like it. Maybe she would like to feel that same sense of pride. Taking that away from her is not cool. Maybe accepting her generosity and letting her have that feeling is the right choice.
And maybe she just wants to maintain her independence and emphasize she's not for sale. She shows up. She does her part. By choice. Taking that gift acknowledges that balance. I understand that.
00 Reply It depends on the intention behind it.
Generosity is attractive, but refusing to ever let a woman contribute can come across as control rather than care.
A healthy dynamic usually allows both people to give, itโs not about who pays, but about mutual respect and balance.00 Reply
3 moOn the first date, I definitely won't let a man pay for me - I'll pay for everything myself. Later on, it's up to mutual agreement, depending on whether there's a mutual attraction. I'm definitely in favor of a man having the space to be a real gentleman, but first I have to be sure that this is really the case and that by paying the bills for me, he's not just preparing space for some ulterior motives

3 moMy kind of man there. There are times that the bill might be more than expected and then I would chip in for the extra indulgences if there were any🍒

Asker3 moso they would accept this?
Asker3 moso 99% of women would date a man like this? ok then.
Anonymous(25-29)3 moi consider it a red flag if a man doesn't pay. Just the same way it is a red flag if a woman only wants to go to expensive places.

That's right... you have no proof.
3 moSure, but I donโt mind paying my own way, as long as I am not taken advantage of.

Anonymous(25-29)3 moNo, my boyfriend and I alternate paying. I'm not broke and helpless and I can pay for my half of things.
10 ReplyI'd like a woman that splits the bill. I don't want to be the one paying all the time. I don't date gold diggers.
