Met a guy in a group setting at first he didn't really say much to me.

But then later on he was engaging more helping me with tallying scores we were playing pictionary etc commenting she's good at it etc.

In this specific situation it sounds like he was being polite. He probably wasn’t very engaged at first since you just met, but after warming up to you and getting comfortable it sounds like he simply became more inclusive. Obviously I could be wrong but we can say that about literally anyone except for him, since only he can tell you how he feels. If you really want to gauge his interest then try being a bit flirty or something next time you see him and see how he responds.

It is highly likely he was genuinely interested in you rather than just being polite. Polite people are generally pleasant from the start, whereas his behavior shifted from quiet to actively seeking ways to interact and praise you.
