Probably not in the USA, castles are mostly a European thing. For US people, I believe the right expression is 'fort'.

That said, if that boring aphorism was ever true then it was before the 1990s because from the 90s up to now, I see a lot of underage couples. I'm certain they don't have the means to buy their own houses.

A few do. But most of them will only come to destroy what you have built. So choose wisely, and choose carefully. Take all the time you need to PROPERLY vet her. It's always best to lose a woman than to lose what you have built. If she is a good woman she WILL wait.
