Shy/outgoing and ambivert are completely different things. Introvert means you recharge and gain energy when alone and being around other people drains you energy wise. Extrovert is the opposite - you get energized being around other people and drained being alone. Ambivert is neither or both - you can be around other people just fine without losing energy, but you can also be alone just fine without losing energy.
Shy means you’re shy and nervous to talk to or do things in front of other people, outgoing means you’re not and have little to no anxiety interacting with or in front of other people. You can for example be outgoing but introverted or shy and ambiverted.

I am all kinds of everything that is confusing. I'm shy when it would be the best time to speak up and run my fucking mouth when it would be better to shut up. My blatant honesty is usually frowned upon, like for instance the term ambivert is complete bullshit. Not trying to be a dick, but come on. It's a senseless buzzword.
