Why would someone assume just because I can't go out late at night with a guy because I still live with my parents it means I'm incapable of making my own decisions as an adult? That's not true! Guys block me because I can’t go out late at night. It’s their house their rules. Are they wrong for blocking me for this? I am 30.

I’m a 31-year-old guy, and I’ll admit I’m pretty flirtatious and I enjoy dating. Chemistry matters to me, and I like spontaneity. But I’d never automatically equate “lives with parents” with “isn’t an adult.”

What I’d actually see is someone who’s in a particular living situation with certain boundaries. Lots of adults live with their parents these days for financial, cultural, or caregiving reasons. That’s reality, not a measure of maturity.

That said, I also understand why some guys decide not to pursue it. If I’m looking for a relationship where we can have late-night dates, be spontaneous, or spend the night together occasionally, and that’s simply not possible, I might conclude we’re not compatible. That’s different from thinking you’re incapable of making your own choices.

Blocking you, though? Unless there was something else going on, that feels unnecessarily harsh. A simple, “I don’t think we’re a good match,” would be more respectful.

From my perspective, confidence and independence show up in how someone communicates, handles life, and treats people, not whether they have a midnight curfew because they respect the people whose roof they’re living under.

And for what it’s worth, if I really liked a woman, I’d be happy to flirt over coffee, take her out in the daytime, or work around her situation for a while. A good connection is worth a little patience. The right guy won’t confuse your living arrangements with your ability to think for yourself.

That excuse is straight up trash. It was never about you living with your parents, it was about whether they could get you in bed that night. Once they realized they couldn't, they bounced. That's it.
And honestly? Your living situation is YOUR business. Nobody gets a say in that but you. So, if this keeps happening, you might wanna look at the type of guys you're picking. Because the right guy wouldn't block you over curfew. He'd respect it. So slow down. Stop giving your time to dudes before you actually know who they are. Pay attention to their actions, not their words. And if their only goal is late night access? They were never worth your time to begin with.
