As long as this occupation remains a hobby and does not take over his entire life, this is something that does not really bother me. Everyone has a hobby or some interests.
It only becomes an issue in a relation when this hobby dominates the person's life and spends too much time with his/her hobby and neglects their other activities or if that hobby becomes like an addiction and creates psychological issues.
I am in the fortunate situation that I don't date or plan on dating and therefore, I am not likely going to ever be confronted with the situation where a partner spends all his time and money on a hobby.
