I don’t think this is a situation where clapping back is warranted. I think it’s important to keep in mind that when you decide to pursue someone, it is going to be a gamble. Always. You never know what sort of response to expect, so you go into your confession being ready for whatever. Two, asking you not to talk to him about this again is not “hard”, it’s not impolite and it’s not mean. It’s setting a boundary, which he’s totally allowed to do. It was nearly 1am, he probably thought you were underlyingly looking for a hookup and he was not trying to do that. He’s a very respectable guy. Just take the L and move on.
