I think it has less to do with a person's attractiveness and more to do with their self respect and having a spine.

A good looking person can look pretty unattractive (weak, needy, no confidence) if they don't stand up for themselves and enforce boundaries.

By the same token, a person can be a 6 or 7 and appear a lot more attractive if they project confidence are decisive and take no bullshit.
