I was alt for like 6 years from 15 to 21 (was a goth, emo, metalhead, egirl, then just unlabelled 'alt'). They're not that different from other girls, except they like darker aesthetics, darker media, certain music styles (typically some styles of rock, metal or more emotional/darker rap or pop) and they often enjoy fashion. The usually don't only like 'darker' things at all, that's a big stereotype. A big part of them, especially for the adults, are actually happy people and are just being themselves. Some are obviously depressed, mentally ill, have a fucked up past, and all that, especially for teenagers. They're more likely to be creative, passionate about music, liberal, be into tattoos/piercings, like going against the grain, be more accepting. Though you do have some who like being edgelords, are still in their rebellious era, want attention, are political extremists (on both sides), are very promiscious, kinky, take substances, are mentally unstable, elitist and toxic. It really depends on the person.

As a guy dating a hypothetical alt girlie, you might get more stares in public since she's more attention grabbing. you might catch people occasionally making comments about her. Some people might come up to her while you're with her to compliment her outfit. You will probably will be exposed to the stuff she likes a lot. She might take more time to get ready than average depending on her style. Some places might not let her in or look at her as a potential delinquent. Some guys might ask you if she's freaky, if she's a satanist, or stuff like that. But aside from that, can't really say, it depends too much on the person.
