Why do I deserve to be used and exploited without the means to gain from all my hard work?

Why do i deserve to have other people steal from me and take from me? I would be nowhere without a sense of entitlement. I would have achieved very little. You have to push.

You have to have a sense of entitlement. It is not the opposite of gratitude to have a sense of entitlement.

And all the people in sweat shops across asia? Ar they 'entitled' if they expect a better standard of living?

Gratitude is when you are thankful for recieving. Entitlement is a natural sense that you could be doing better.

Deserving would be a term that reflects what one has a natural right to. In other words, that which one's worth implies one should receive. Entitled to would be a term that reflects what one can or could legally force others to provide. Here, the key is that one has a "title" - a formal positive right.

There's nothing wrong with not taking shit from people, it becomes an issue when people take their "sense of entitlement" a tad too far.
