Why is it so hard for people to understand pretty privilege?

Because everyone's listing off examples of pretty privilege instead of defining it.
Everyone's examples are different and the people are debating other people's examples. "That's not a pretty privilege that's female privilege, class privilege, education privilege, race privilege etc"
Or that not a privilege at all because the person had a bad experience

everyone knows it exists but i feel like understanding specific situations when it happens can be harder if it's all what you're used to

Many people have a normalcy bias so they assume if they are attractive that everyone just treats everyone the same. If someone’s unattractive they more can tell that someone’s getting better treatment.

But people who are attractive generally are treated two ways. Either people are really nice to them or are mean to them out of jealousy. So for women. Other women may be really nice because they want to be associated with her or they can be bitches because they’re jealous. Same for men. Some men may just bend over backwards while others feel like she would reject them so they reject her before she rejects him. Take the same for men and reverse it.

I was the same way…. I didn’t realize I was very attractive until years later. I don’t say this in a prideful or arrogant way by any means. I’m given both nice and mean treatment. I get more free shit. I just figured everyone gets treated that way. I get free shit and upgrades all the time especially if I’m extra nice.

If I’m super nice to some waitresses it’s not super uncommon to get comped stuff. As where I observe other men and they seem more annoyed and fake nice about it. Even if I’m not a regular at the restaurant…. I’ve noticed also more over the top behaviors with men who aren’t attractive.

Not uncommon that I can just walk out of a gas station with a handful of stuff and the clerk says you’re good have a nice day.

Basically that your life experience as a woman will be completely different based on whether or not you’re considered conventionally attractive

Well that’s probably why you have such a hard time convincing them. By exposing them to the idea that everyone around them is innately shallow and they inherently benefit from that as someone who’s conventionally attractive, you’re asking them to reshape their perception of reality to something closer to your own, which is not an easy task to do from their end.
