Hummm... Interesting question. I was a transfer student back in the day. I'll admit that I was a little bit different than those who were not. I worked at a job while going to community college, before the University, and I was exposed to a lot of not so middle class people. (Not saying that is bad at all but it helped me be more rounded.) A lot of those who I knew in community college were not as strong academically and it gave me a sense of "we are not all the same". Over all I would say that I was less sheltered than most of the people who I knew who came in right from high school. I remember one student telling me "how stupid" her roommate was. Then I told her that if she was stupid, she wouldn't have even been there. Anyway, it gave me a different perspective.

They are financially more responsible being that the same courses for general education are half price at community/state colleges. Being that they take factors like that into consideration, they are likely smarter and more motivated in life. In general they are likely more mature adults that are goal oriented.
I'm considered a transfer student eventhough I directly went to university after highschool and I'm friends with some mature students. I wouldn't consider myself or any of them weird.
If anything, they're more responsible and hardworking than the younger, regular students. Sometimes I like them better but that's just personal preference... I've always gotten along better with people older than myself.
I think you should maybe have a more broadened perspective, not just about this but in life in general. I feel like maybe you need to grow a little. Afterall, that's partly why people seek tertiary education.
