Why do I miss high school so much and will it last forever?

I graduated high school last year during the coronavirus pandemic. We had no prom and no graduation. My first year of college was hell. I had nothing to do because we were quarantined and every building was closed. There were no opportunities to socialize and it began to take a toll on my health mentality and physically. In March, I began to think about high school and all of the great times and all the good laughs I had with my friends and teachers even though I rushed time because I felt like I had no real friends. I miss high school so much it hurts. I hate everything about college. I have so much work and no fun. Will this last for the rest of college? I resent going to this college.

College is hard compared to high school. I do not know what your major is but in college you have to learn to manage your time and become more organized. The pandemic really screwed up a lot of people. I teach at a local college and all my students complained about the online curriculum. The college I teach at really didn't offer much training and invested nothing in hardware so the online content really wasn't very good. Nobody expected the pandemic to last as long as it did.
You should go back in the fall with a different set of expectations. You will meet new people and have live instruction. It will seem a lot different than your Freshman year.

There’s no doubt that the last year and a half has been difficult on everyone, including students. Going to college during this pandemic, with buildings being locked down, and virtual learning.. it’s almost impossible to have had a normal college experience, especially in your first year. I would give it another year at this school, as the next school year should bring back some normalcy, and allow you to have a real college experience. If you are still unhappy after that, you can certainly consider a transfer. Good luck!
